Our Code of Conduct and Ethics
At Jumba Engineering Services Limited (JES Ltd.), integrity is the foundation of everything we build. Over four decades in Kenya’s engineering industry have taught us that technical excellence alone is not enough — it must be guided by ethical leadership, legal compliance, and professional responsibility. Our Code of Conduct and Ethics defines how we work, how we treat our people, and how we deliver value to our clients and stakeholders.
1. Compliance With Laws and Standards
We are fully committed to upholding the laws and regulations of Kenya while adhering to international engineering standards. This includes:
- The Engineers Act, 2012 and oversight of the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
- Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) Class A1 licensing requirements.
- National Construction Authority (NCA1) compliance for major projects.
- Global standards such as IEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and ISO 9001/45001.
Every engineer and technician is expected to exercise sound professional judgment and ensure their work meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and legality.
2. Integrity and Transparency
Trust is the currency of our profession. JES Ltd. operates on the principles of:
- Honest communication with clients, regulators, and suppliers.
- Transparent procurement — free of bribery or unfair practices, in line with the Bribery Act, 2016 (Kenya).
- Accurate reporting in all technical documentation, financial statements, and project submissions.
Our reputation, built over 40 years, rests on delivering what we promise, without shortcuts.
3. Conflicts of Interest
All employees, officers, and directors must act in the best interest of the company and its clients. Any activity or relationship that could create a conflict of interest — whether financial, contractual, or personal — must be disclosed immediately.
By enforcing this, we ensure that decisions are guided by professional merit and not compromised by personal gain.
4. Confidentiality and Data Protection
We respect the confidentiality of information entrusted to us by our clients, employees, and partners.
- All sensitive data, drawings, and project details are handled securely.
- Unauthorized disclosure of client or company information is strictly prohibited.
- JES Ltd. complies with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, ensuring that data integrity and privacy are safeguarded at all times.
5. Fair Dealing and Respect
We are committed to creating a workplace and client environment built on mutual respect, fairness, and inclusivity.
- No employee shall take unfair advantage of clients, competitors, or colleagues through misrepresentation or manipulation.
- We maintain a zero-tolerance policy on discrimination, harassment, and intimidation — in line with both Kenyan labor laws and global workplace standards.
- Every JES team member is entitled to a safe, dignified, and empowering environment.
6. Protecting Company Assets
Our people are custodians of the company’s physical, digital, and intellectual assets. Every employee is responsible for safeguarding:
- Equipment, tools, and vehicles.
- Technical data, drawings, and proprietary know-how.
- Digital infrastructure, emails, and ICT networks.
We protect our resources to ensure sustainable growth and reliability for future generations.
7. Reporting and Accountability
We encourage all employees to speak up if they witness violations of this Code. Concerns may be raised through direct supervisors or confidential reporting channels without fear of retaliation.
JES Ltd. will take disciplinary action, including termination or legal recourse, against violations of this Code. Accountability ensures that our values are not aspirational but lived every day on every site.
Our Ethical Promise
For JES Ltd., ethics is not just policy — it is practice. It is what has allowed us to build lasting partnerships with government institutions, multinationals, and private developers across Kenya. Guided by this Code, we will continue to engineer not only safe and reliable systems, but also trust, fairness, and respect in every engagement.
